Renew to Restore: A Retreat for Trauma-Informed Clinicians
June 11–13, 2026 | Miraval Austin, Texas
Find peace, restore balance, and reconnect with your purpose.
You spend your days caring for others — holding space, solving crises, and carrying emotional weight.
This retreat is your invitation to rest, receive, and renew.
Join us June 11–13, 2026, at Miraval Austin for Renew to Restore, a three day, two night retreat designed for clinicians who give so much — and are ready to receive.
Through a blend of restorative experiences, somatic practices, and gentle education on medical trauma, you’ll reconnect with your body’s wisdom, learn strategies to prevent burnout, and rediscover your sense of calm and purpose.
Led by Sarah Stasica, founder of Medical Trauma Support and Vanessa Abraham, a speech language pathologist and author of Speechless: How a Speech Therapist Lost Her Ability to Speak and Her Silent Struggle to Reclaim Her Voice and Life, this retreat offers space to rest, learn, and renew — surrounded by nature’s beauty and the mindful luxury of Miraval.
You’ll experience:
Optional morning somatic grounding and mindfulness sessions
Educational workshops on medical trauma and clinician well-being
Reflective group discussions and peer connection
Ample rest, spa time, and Miraval’s signature wellness activities
Step away from the demands of care and return to yourself — restored, regulated, and ready to reconnect with your calling.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Why This Retreat Matters
Clinician burnout is real — and it’s not a personal failing.
Many healthcare providers experience secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, and nervous system dysregulation from the very work they love.
This retreat is designed to help you:
- Understand how medical trauma impacts both patients and providers
- Reconnect with your body’s innate capacity to regulate and restore
- Learn somatic tools to prevent burnout and sustain compassion
- Experience true rest and renewal in a peaceful, supportive setting

Vanessa Abraham, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist, author, speaker, ICU survivor, and owner of A Neu Healing. As both a clinician and a patient, she understands firsthand what it means to be “the person in the bed.” After surviving a critical illness and developing Post–Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS), she experienced the devastating loss of her ability to speak, move, and safely swallow food—skills she had dedicated her career to helping others regain. Her memoir, Speechless: How a Speech Therapist Lost Her Ability to Speak and Her Silent Struggle to Reclaim Her Voice and Life, chronicles her powerful journey through depression, vulnerability, and healing. Today, she uses her experience to help others recover from the devastating psychological aspects of PICS and neurological disorders, while advocating for compassion, community, and trauma-informed care.
